As we come into fall I am excited for all the great weddings I have coming up, but also the amazing ones I had this past summer. One of those was Carly and Shawn on August 19th at Anthony's Lake Club Catering in Danbury, CT.
We did their engagement session back in May at Hubbard Park on a mostly cloudy day, but these two were on fire! Their love and passion for each other cannot be contained and their humor and joie de vivre is infectious. Normally I come with my own jokes but Shawn had me and Carly in stitches for the whole session, which just made me even more excited for their wedding.
On the wedding day, Carly and I planned to document her bridal preparations with her two bridesmaids and the room at Anthony's Lake Club is gorgeous, with a fabulous view over Lake Kenosia. Carly had so many beautiful details to adorn herself with. Her lace covered wedding shoes coupled with her bead-encrusted garter were to die for. Not to mention this hanger from Le Rustic Chic is the most perfectly legible custom hanger I've ever laid eyes on.
After getting ready, Carly spent a quiet moment of anticipation before the ceremony enjoying the view of the lake from her bridal suite.
The wedding ceremony was held on the deck overlooking the lake and adorned with colorful, blooming flowers. When the ceremony time came, there was hardly a dry eye in the house. The love and support that Carly and Shawn have for their relationship from family and friends I think can't be measured. Carly is a voracious reader and Shawn is known as being somewhat verbose. so they opted to write their own vows in beautiful, soft-tooth paper vow books that are now treasured keepsakes. Their ceremony also included a unity candle, with the candles wrapped in a lace to match Carly's dress.
When it came time for portraits, there was a light rain, so we took the opportunity to do some dramatic rain portraits and spend some time alone under the gazebo.
To kick off their reception, Carly and Shawn shared their first dance to a song from Spill Canvas, Carly's favorite band and chose to share their first dance with all their guests.
The rest of the reception was pretty popping, too, with Carly's grandmother being the hottest item on the dance floor. But I have to say that it was a first for me to see a groom get that many lap dances from his buddies.
All in all this wedding was a super amazing day and I am so honored that Carly and Shawn allowed me into their life to be a part of it.
