 Hey there!

Aliza and Bror’s nautical Saybrook Point Inn wedding in historic Old Saybrook, CT was a dream to be a part of. The day was packed with a lot of love, laughs and some seriously epic dancing!

This wedding had a nautical vibe all throughout it. Aliza and Bror both love sailing and being on the water, which is part of the reason they chose the Saybrook Point Inn. This nautical theme was not only incorporated in the setting and décor of The Lighthouse Gallery at the Inn, but also in the special details throughout the day.

The table centerpieces also incorporated some of the vintage and antique nautical collectible pieces from Aliza and Bror’s personal collection.

Their cake (created by the fabulous Creative Cakes by Donna) even had a little sailboat topper with their names and the wedding date.

Two of Aliza’s bridesmaids designed the invitation and stationery suite, which had a uniquely nautical flair to it.

Another unique touch was the gold sailboat tie-clip that Bror wore, which had previously been given as a gift to him by Aliza for another occasion.

Aliza and Bror were married on a gorgeous day in June. The weather was sunny with a nice breeze and some clouds passing overhead. Everyone was in a joyful mood and super relaxed, which is pretty much how Aliza and Bror are. They’re very laid back, go-with-the-flow people so it was easy to have a great time just allowing the wedding day to unfold naturally and have a good time.

Another thing that helped us really enjoy the day and keep things stress-free was the inclusion of the First Look and wedding party photos before the ceremony.

At our initial consultation we had talked briefly about including a First Look, but in the weeks leading up to the wedding we decided to add a little more time and really expand that aspect of the day, which allowed us to explore beyond the Saybrook Point Inn and head over to the historic Fort Saybrook Monument Park for portraits.

Because Aliza and Bror are so chill and respect the individuality of their friends, they opted to not put strict restrictions on the attire for their wedding party. Bror’s groomsmen were asked to wear slacks and a vest with tie as long as the colors were blues and greys. Aliza allowed her bridesmaids to all select their own outfits, requesting that they choose a floral pattern. One of them even opted to wear a jumpsuit which was super cool! New trend alert!

When I asked Aliza and Bror what special rituals or traditions would be part of their day, Aliza informed me that the day was going to be “Jewish-lite.” Which of course got me super excited. I photograph a lot of non-religious weddings and Christian/Catholic weddings, so any opportunity for me to photograph rituals and traditions that are from different religions and cultures is a big deal for me and makes my heart really happy.

Aliza and Bror decided to incorporate the breaking of the glass into their ceremony and a traditional Hora dance during their reception. And of course Aliza’s father, who is a professional singer also sang “Sunrise, Sunset” during his toast (and we all cried).

In addition to getting to witness this amazing Hora dance, I also saw some freaking amazing dancing from the guests cutting loose on the dance floor. Both Aliza and Bror come from families and friend groups with musical backgrounds, so there were a lot of people there cutting it up like I had never seen at a wedding before (but that I sure hope to see at a wedding again!) There were so many arms and legs flying around I was both amazed and concerned for safety. 🤣

All in all the day was pretty spectacular, but I’ll let Aliza tell you for herself what she thought about working with me.

Emma was a joy to have at our wedding! Everyone loved her and our wedding photos are better than we could have ever imagined! She is the perfect combination of organized and fun that made the formal wedding photos feel easy. She also captured so many wonderful moments from the reception. My husband and I love looking at the photos of our friends and family having fun on our big day.
